Technology Education 8
This course covers the Pennsylvania academics standards of science and technology.Students will be working in three different areas (drafting, sheet metal & computer design).In drafting, students will draw objects orthography and isometrically learning how things are designed on paper.From that experience, students will design & build a lamp out of sheet metal.Simple sheet metal processes will be covered (cutting, layout, filing, bending, soldiering & painting).The last area to be covered will be computer design (car builder).Students will design two vehicles that willmeet certain criteria.Elements of industry and technology with career opportunities will also be covered during the course.
Students will be working on three different projects while in the technology lab.The students will help to design various aspects of their activity in hands on approach.In doing so, they will be using the Planner, Jointer, Radial Arm Saw, Drill Press and Shaper in a very controlled atmosphere.They will also experience hand sanding, assembly, gluing, staining and finishing.Elements of industry and careers will also be covered during the course
